If that isn’t your speed, though, you can book some surf lessons down on Pismo Beach (as it is prime territory for killer waves) or take in the beautiful Dinosaur Caves Park. The overlooks are stunning, and you might catch a colony of pelicans perching on a rocky outcropping. There is a playground for the kids and has easy access for those with limited mobility.

Finding a good place to eat in the Pismo Beach area will not take you long at all. Spend the afternoon taking in a variety of wines at Sans Liege Wines on Price Street, then grab some grub from a nearby joint. The Oyster Loft is a popular choice for fine dining, and Business Insider hails it as one of the 100 most scenic restaurants in the US!
If you want to keep it more affordable, head to Penny’s All-American Café. They have vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options and serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Everyone seems to love the huge plate of home fries they serve.

Events
There are a few Memorial Day events in Pismo Beach. First and foremost, there is a ceremony being held on Pismo Pier at 11:00 a.m. on Memorial Day itself. This event is totally free and is a great way to honor those who have served – and some who have died – while serving our nation.
Special speakers will be on hand to lead the event, so be sure to get there early enough for a nice spot.
The 34th Annual Classic Car Show will be going on all weekend (Friday through Sunday) and is certainly worth checking out. It runs from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. Just head on out to Pismo Beach, where you will find over 850 classic cars and street rods to ogle over.
